TED – The Energy Detective Can Make All The Difference

Sundogs Solutions is happy to announce that we are offering installation of the TED 5000 energy monitoring system to our customers. The TED series of energy monitoring devices allows customers to see energy use in real-time. This is important for two reasons: 1) as we remind all of our clients, “you can’t manage what you don’t measure” and 2) by the time the utilities bill you, the energy is already spent.

By having real time visibility into how much energy you are using at any given time as well as access to historical data, you can make immediate changes to your habits and have a very real impact on your energy consumption and therefore your bills as well as your carbon footprint. “Knowledge is power” as they say. If fact, we feel so strongly that this is a critical element to any energy efficiency strategy, that we include it in all of our solar installations.

The Department of Energy recently announced the results of a study demonstrating that when homeowners see their energy consumption 88% actively took steps to lower their energy consumption. Numerous other studies have demonstrated that homeowners lower their utility bills between 10%-20% when they are able to get real-time feedback on their energy use.

Training for a Cleaner Future – At NCSU

The Solar Center at NCSU offers excellent, hands-on training in renewable energy technologies, as well as residential and commercial green building.
