Combustion Appliance Testing

Worried about whether or not your combustion appliances are emitting carbon monoxide into your living space?

We are certified and follow the guidelines set forth by Building Performance Institute (BPI), who have adopted a strict procedure for determining the safety of appliances in your home such as gas water heaters, furnaces and ranges. Through our testing we can simulate the “worst case scenario” under which your appliances may be required to operate and determine whether or not your combustion appliances will be able to perform their designed functions safely.

During this test we measure:
1.Baseline atmospheric conditions within your combustion appliance zone(s)
2.Drafting performance of your combustion appliances
3.CO (Carbon Monoxide) emissions of your appliances
4.Worst case scenario
5.Lastly we test your gas lines for the presence of any leaks

This type of testing is important whenever renovations or energy upgrades are being considered, and especially after the work is complete. Modifications to a building can have a significant impact on how these appliances are able to vent their harmful gasses outdoors. As part of this service we will install carbon monoxide detectors if none are present.
