Solar Installations
Using the sun to heat, cool and reduce the dependence on electricity or artificial lighting is as old as the art of building. Whether you want to install solar panels to generate electricity or hot water, taping into the power of the sun is a great opportunity to save money, differentiate yourself from the other builders and offer real value to your customers. While residential solar projects should always be evaluated on a case by case basis, typically solar is a cost effective solution to reducing your energy bills and more so now than ever before with our current tax incentives. The most benefit however can be achieved by designing your project with solar in mind right from the start. This can make all the difference between a project that merely “looks good” and a project that financially makes sense.
While installing photovoltaic panels or solar thermal panels is not rocket science, if done incorrectly these installations can at best frustrate and at worst create dangerous conditions for you and your customers. Sundogs Solutions has trained at the NC State Solar Center for both Solar Thermal and Photovoltaic applications and uses licensed contractors on every installation to ensure each project goes smoothly and is installed correctly from the start.
Building Certifications
Sundogs Solutions is an accredited rater for Energy Star (HERS) and NAHB Green. We will work with your schedule to ensure your project achieves its goal on time. We will also work with you throughout the building process to alert you to any possible issues we anticipate based on project and design reviews prior to start of construction.

Using sophisticated software modeling tools, Sundogs Solutions can help you achieve a lower energy footprint by helping you make informed choices on site design, materials selection, architecture and house orientation before even breaking ground. Avoid costly mistakes and delays or frustrated customers by modeling your project in software ahead of time. By modeling your projects in advance you can avoid unpleasant surprises and you demonstrate to your clients that you are a notch above and a step ahead of your competition when it comes to building better homes.
Thermography
Thermography is the practice of using thermal imaging for various applications. Thermal cameras are a great tool for many residential and commercial applications. By detecting the slightest variations in the heat given off by materials, our customers can avoid costly repairs, downtime and often frustrating and time consuming detective work trying to find the source of a problem. Some common applications for thermography:
- Verifying insulation
- Locating water leaks
- Finding air infiltrations / thermal bypasses
- Verifying electrical circuits
- Mechanical systems verification and maintenance
As helpful as thermography can be, it also requires an expensive piece of equipment. With cameras typically running over five thousand dollars and much more, it is hard to justify the purchase of one of these instruments for only occasional use. Using the Fluke TiR32 imager, the highest resolution camera in its class, we offer our customers thermal imaging services on an hourly basis which allows you to avoid the high cost of the equipment and training, letting you focus on the task at hand.
