Windows and Doors
Windows can provide spectacular views of sweeping vistas, let in daylight and provide you a connection to the outdoors, even when the weather is uninviting. In fact, windows can be one of your home’s most attractive features. However in the winter, windows can also account for 10% to 20% of your heating bill and make your air conditioner work harder to cool your house in summer.
Due largely to great marketing on the part of window manufacturers, customers often think first of windows when it comes to energy savings. The truth is that windows are expensive and even the most energy efficient windows out there are still relatively inefficient when it comes to keeping heat in or out. The Department of Energy has done many studies on windows and their results show that replacing them takes on average, over 20 years to pay back in energy savings. For better energy saving solutions, see our Building Performance page.

That’s not to say you should never change your windows and doors, there are very good reasons for changing these, comfort and aesthetics or even broken, leaking or inoperable windows and doors are all reasons you may want to consider replacements.
If that’s the case, give us a call, we can help with our window & door replacement services. When we replace windows, we do not simply put in a retrofit window, we remove the old window, fix any rotted and damaged framing, insert a full window, re-flash and re-seal for proper drainage and moisture management. We also air seal and properly insulate each window to take every opportunity to make your building envelope tighter.
When we replace windows and doors, we do so with an eye to proper construction and durability and we don’t cut corners.
